Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Price: AU$220.00
(per dozen)
Class 22, 18.5 points, GOLD. This wine was awarded the only gold in its class of 71 entries and deserved every point it was awarded. The deep rich red colour with purple hues gives a clue as to what follows. Lifted berry fruits abound, with mint and hints of leafy eucalyptus and there is an element of new oak as well. The minty cabernet character is further enhanced with chocolate and tannin on the palate which all combine to give a complex palate of considerable length - desirable, but not always seen in cabernet sauvignon. Don’t be afraid to put this one away. It will continue to develop...

Reviews
The passion fruit aromas are fresh and appealing, as is the vibrant racy palate. Excellent summer drinking. Excellent Value. Winewise Magazine—February 2010.
One thing this vineyard guarantees is a huge whack of fruit intensity. This wine has it in abundance with a palate brimming with tropical fruits. The spicy herbal life is very appealing and the ripe fleshy passionfruit adds a delicious crunchy feel in the mouth. Yummy stuff.

Gammons Crossing Cabernet Coonawarra Sauvignon 2007. Class 15, 18.7, Gold.
It’s not often the judges comment on individual wines, however they did single out the Gammons Crossing for their comment; “Top wine a lovely example of varietal cabernet sauvignon”. I think you’ll agree. There is an abundance of blackcurrant and mint characters so typical of the region. Colour and flavour have been extracted during fermentation with the use of heading down boards to maintain skin contact and the wine has been allowed to finish fermentation in French oak, before maturing for a...
